Social media giant Meta announced last year that it will bring the Instagram app to smart TVs. After launching the app for Amazon Fire TV devices in December 2025 and for Google TV platforms in February of this year, the company has now expanded the Instagram for TV app to Samsung smart TVs.
The Instagram for TV app is available for download on Samsung TVs in the US. It is compatible with Tizen-based models launched in 2020 or later. The app groups Instagram Reels into interest-based categories like music, sports, comedy, and travel, making it easy to browse specific topics. This design allows family members or friends watching together to easily find and explore interesting content.
You can download the application directly from the Apps section of your Samsung TV.

In addition to Reels, the app allows you to view Stories posted by your friends and favorite content creators on the big screen. Meta is also testing phone-to-TV casting that lets you seamlessly cast Reels directly from the Saved tab of your phone's Instagram app to the TV.
Meta is collaborating closely with creators to explore optimized video formats for long-form, widescreen video content. The app has a dedicated section for horizontal videos, which seems to be a strategic push to compete with YouTube in the living room. The company is also trying to bring episodic videos and livestreaming to TVs.
